Emily Sue Smith | Fiction and Poetry
COMING SOON
Emily Sue Smith aims to write the kind of fiction that slips a hand into your chest and rearranges something. Her stories live at the intersection of the surreal and the intimate—where a single sentence can tilt the world slightly off its axis, and a quiet moment can unravel into something uncanny. With a voice that blends sharp wit, emotional depth, and a reverence for the strange, she writes about transformation, identity, longing, and the quiet rebellions that shape who we are.
Her work often centers on characters in flux—women on the edge of becoming, relationships folding in on themselves, memory as both anchor and trap. Whether she’s building a world that feels just a shade removed from our own or exploring the absurdity of modern life with a poetic lens, Emily’s writing has a pulse. There’s a rhythm to it—something musical, something offbeat—that draws you in and refuses to resolve too neatly.
Emily is in the process of putting the final designs together to self-publish a poetry collection that traces the emotional, physical, and spiritual landscape of her gender transition. The book is part memoir, part incantation—a lyrical and visual excavation of identity, becoming, and the beauty of unbecoming what no longer fits. It will be available for pre-order soon, both here and via her Substack. Stay tuned for more details, cover art, and a few sneak peeks.
Additionally, she’s currently in the process of shopping her debut novel to agents and publishing partners, seeking the right home for a story that’s been years in the making. It’s a project rooted in transformation—equal parts satire, sincerity, and slow-burn catharsis—and marks the beginning of a new creative chapter.
Until then, consider this the prelude.
